Virginia Marie Matthews Key passed from this life, January 10, 2026 at Overton County Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Overton County, October 06, 1943 to  William B. and Hattie Savage Matthews.  The youngest of the brood she was a doted upon little sister to her six brothers and one sister: Lloyd, Bill, Deloy, Russ, Ted, & Gordon Mathtews; and a sister, Sue Matthews Loftis, all of which preceded her in death.

Virginia married Thomas Key, August 06, 1963 and worked as a beautician for many of her younger adult years.  After her children matured she returned to school to earn her practical nursing license.  She worked at Overton County Nursing & Rehab for 25 years years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Key.

Survivors of Virginia Key include her daughter, Gina Key Karber and Ken LeJeune of Hope Arkansas; her son Kelly and wife Missy Key of Livingston, TN; her grandsons Dakota and wife Vivian Rangel Key of Arlington, Virginia; Drew and Rebecca Key of Livingston, TN; Daniel and Addie Key of Knoxville, TN and her great-granddaughters: Maggie Key, Annie Key, and (soon to arrive) Hollie Key.

Virginia was known to all who knew her as a caring and kind woman.  She will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.

There are no funereal arrangements per Virginia's request.
