Roger Rittenberry, age 90, passed away on March 23, 2026. He was born on April 17, 1935 in the Dry Hollow community of Overton County Tennessee.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, John and Velma Rittenberry; his wife of 40 years, Barbara Rittenberry; his son, Andy Rittenberry; and mother of his three oldest children, Ann Allen. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Wanda, Judy, Joanna, Billy, Bobby, Buddy, Donald, Glenna, and Jimmy.

He is survived by his children, sons Mike Rittenberry, Roy Rittenberry, and Jay (Kasha) Rittenberry, daughter Carol Wallace,  stepchildren Lisa (Tim) Duncan, Lynn Clark, Steve (Kim) Clark, and Brian (Angela) Clark, his 8 granddaughters- April (Jerry) Young, Brooke (Josh) Young, Kelly (Chanse) Rice, Marissa and McKaya Rittenberry, Abigail (Greyson) Rittenberry, and Sara Kate Rittenberry, along with several great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his siblings Linda Bilyeu and Daryl Rittenberry.

He dedicated 25 years of service to the Tennessee Highway Patrol before retiring in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. He enjoyed bluegrass music, gardening, ginseng and arrowhead hunting. Roger loved the gift of Gods beauty in the springtime when everything was in bloom.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11AM at Shipley Cemetery, on Shipley Church Rd, in Cookeville, TN. Family will welcome friends at 10:30 at the graveside.
