Portia Marie Grissom, age 75, of Cookeville, TN, passed away at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She was born in Livingston, TN to the late Allard Smith and Bonza(Bowman) Smith.

Ms. Grissom's home church was, I Am Worship Church in Rickman, TN where she worked in the coffee shop inside of the church. She was very active in the Highways and Hedges program which caters to the homeless. Ms. Portia was most known for the love of spending time with her family and friends, loved to fish when time allowed, and also enjoyed going to yard sales.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Portia Grissom was also preceded in death by one brother; Hershel Smith, and one sister; Stella Gambrell.

Ms Portia Grissom is survived by her life partner of 18 years John Leonard, daughter; Melissa(Johnny) Gibson, son; Frankie Dixon. Four grandchildren; Donna Hall, James Gambrell and special friend Taylor and her daughter Charlie, Ashlee Gambrell, Randall Dixon and Anna Gibson. Five great grandchildren; Alexis Gambrell, Patrick Kennedy, Vincent Allen, Aurora Allen, and Luna Gambrell, and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home, in Livingston, TN on December 16, 2025 at 1PM with visitation starting at 11am until time of service at 1pm.
