Mary Delaine Tallent Brooks age 87 of Cookeville, Putnam Co., TN went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11 AM from the Hall Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Algood City Cemetery in Algood, Putnam Co., TN. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, March 17th starting at 5 PM until 8 PM and officiating with the service will be Charlie Lee Tallent II. To serve as Pallbearers are: Dalton Underwood, Cody Vickers, Ryan Vickers, Ethan Rodgers, Gus Rodgers, and Aron Steckel.

A devout Christian, Delaine loved spending time with her Church Family and Bible Study Groups. Delaine was born on Monday, September 19, 1938 to the late Charlie Lee and Iva Lee Matheney Tallent in Cookeville, Putnam Co., TN. She graduated Tennessee Tech with a BA in 1959 in education, she started teaching at Fort Knox, Kentucky, then went to Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County VA where she met her future husband, Frank W. Brooks. Frank and Delaine had a wonderful 34 years together, they loved entertaining, motorcycle riding and camping. To say that Delaine was a social butterfly would be an understatement, she loved meeting new people, sitting and talking with family for hours( she was a great storyteller).Delaine will be truly missed by all that knew her.

Delaine was preceded in death in addition to her parents; her husband Frank Brooks.

She is survived by her Brother and Sister in-law, Raymond and Peggy Tallent of Cookeville, two step sons, William Brooks(Sandy) of Virginia and Jeff brooks of Florida, nephew Charlie Tallent (Earlene) of Cookeville, two nieces Sharon Underwood (Gene) and Sally Benson (Donnie) both of Cookeville and a host of several cousins. A reception will be held after the burial to Tim and Susan Melton's home located at 880 West Cemetery Road Cookeville, TN everyone is welcome to attend.
