Obituary

Graveside Services for George Wendell Richardson, age 80 of Byrdstown are Saturday, May 29,2021 at 10 AM at the Smyrna Cemetery in Byrdstown, TN. Military Honors will be provided at graveside by the Volunteer Pickett County Veterans Honor Guard. Bro. James Rigney will officiate. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

After having a brief illness, George passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12 th , 2021 at his daughters residence with family at bedside.

He was born July 2 nd , 1940 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Walter B. and Dora Lee (Stockton) Richardson.

Most importantly, George loved his family who survives him. Wife of 54 years, Sara Lou (Mundt) Richardson, whom wed on November 18 th , 1966. Son: Marc (Dani) Richardson of Byrdstown; Daughter: Kimberly (Timothy) Booher of Byrdstown; Grandchildren: Morgan, Hannah, and Parker Richardson; MaryMadeline, Nicholas, Spencer, and Brycen (Ayla) Booher; Sister: Arnel Goodwin of New Castle, Indiana. As well as, a host of extended family and friends.

Proceeded in death: Parents; Siblings: Brothers: Earl, James, Perry Hay, and Bazle Richardson; Sisters: Nita Lindsey and infant sister Elizabeth Richardson.

George proudly served four years in the Company C 1 st Tank Battalion 69 th Armor, APO San Francisco of the U.S. Army. Earning the Rank of SP5 E5 and receiving Marksman Sharpshooter, Tank Driver, and Mechanical Badges during his services. He was a lifetime member of the local DAV.

He was a member of the Fortville, Indiana Masonic Lodge F.A.M. #207 & O.E.S Chapter #149. Attained the 32 Degree Scottish Rite-Valley of Indianapolis. Also was a Charter Member of the Optimist Club of Pendleton, Indiana.

He retired in 2000, after working over 40 years in the Plumbing Industry as a Licensed Master Plumber & Pipefitter. His work ethic and skills were top notch, proudly running job sites for various Universities, Schools, Commercial buildings, and at a Nuclear Power Plant. He was blessed with a wonderful retirement of 20 years, giving him the opportunity to enjoy his many hobbies of woodworking and gardening. He looked forward to his honey-do-list projects from his family and having daily coffee time with his friends. His grandchildren brought an instant smile to his face and so much joy during this time, loving most working side by side with them on so many projects. He often joked, during his retirement, when he was asked his occupation. He always replied he had a "Roofers Card" because it covered everything. He was always there for family and friends when they needed anything made, worked on, or fixed. He was so proud to have the ability to help others and share his woodworking gifts to so many friends along the way. Eighty years of a life well lived and well loved. He will be so greatly missed by family and friends.
