DECEASED: Mrs. Naomi Rae Melton age 90 of Algood, TN passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Signature Healthcare in Algood, TN.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Naomi Rae Shelby Melton was born on October 10, 1924 in Cleaton, Kentucky to the late Other Shelby and Martha Susan Payne Shelby. She was married to Tucker Melton on August 21, 1946 in Akron, Ohio. Naomi worked most of her career as a homemaker and a number of years as a nurses aide for various nursing homes in Arizona and California. The senior citizens she worked with became her friends. She lived in Ohio, California, and Tennessee, but considered Arizona her home. In later years her home was in TN so she could be close to her son, Robert Melton, or Bobby, as the family knows him. Naomi liked nothing better than to go out with her sister, Thelma, who lived in AZ. They enjoyed going to rummage sales, thrift stores, concerts, Christmas programs and basically, just being together having a few laughs. Being a life-long member of the Church of God of Anderson, Indiana gave her strength and mane her commitment to God stronger each day. In later years Naomi enjoyed closed caption TV due to her hearing loss. She liked a few of the soap operas and enjoyed watching the news. Naomi kept up-to-the-minute with current events by reading various newspapers she subscribed to. She could discuss local and national happenings with accuracy. Reading books all her life had been a comfort and a joy to her. She lived long enough to have many ceramic red bird collections and many doll collections. At one time her cardinal red bird collection was on display for weeks at the Livingston, TN Public Library. This gave her pleasure to have shared the collection with the children who viewed it. Naomi lived to be 90 years old. She loved to sing the old hymns while she did her housework or cooked in the kitchen. Today she is singing her heart out with the glorious angel choir in heaven. In the arms of the angels, will she find comfort there.

SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Robert Tucker Melton and his wife Marsha of Monterey, TN. 1 Daughter: Dorothy Melton Alexander of Phoenix, Arizona.2 Grandchildren: David Robert Melton, Natalie Anderson. 3 Step Grandchildren Danny Reagan, Jr. Tessea Seber, Tracy Reagan. 8 Step Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Step Granddaughter.

PRECEEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents: All of her siblings, which included 2 sets of twins.

SERVICES/BURIAL: Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Naomi Rae Melton will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 @ 2PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston, TN with burial to follow in the Overton Co. Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 starting at 1 PM till service time. Officiating will be Bro. Tim Adams.
