Obituary

Funeral Services for Bob L. Hastings, age 79 of Rickman, Overton County, TN will be held Wednesday July 25, 2012 at 11 AM from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will follow in the Netherland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening July 24, 2012 from 5-8 PM and on Wednesday July 25, 2012 from 9 AM until service time at 11 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jerry Hastings, Phillip Hastings, Alex Hastings, Tom Ashburn, Harold Ferguson, and Kevin Cantrell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of the Monterey Church of Christ. Bro. Tim Singleton will be officiating.

Mr. Bob L. Hastings passed away on Sunday July 22, 2012 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born January 14, 1933 in Overton County, TN to the late Lester and Julie Hastings. Mr. Hastings graduated from Rickman High School in 1950. Later he moved to Detroit, MI taking a job with Rockwell International where he worked for 30 years then retired. Shortly after moving to Detroit, he served 2 years in the U.S. Army at Fort Carson, Colorado.

His family includes his wife of 58 years Ruby Bilbrey Hastings, married May 4, 1954; two sons and daughters-in-law: Rick and Merry Hastings of Rochester Hills, MI, Randy and Melody A. Hastings of Indianapolis, IN; and three grandchildren: Alex, Jarrett, and Melody L. Hastings.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hastings was preceded in death by two sisters: Lillian Gragg and Lizzie Ferguson and one brother James Walter Hastings.

Bob and Ruby Hastings are members of the Monterey Church of Christ in Monterey, TN where Mr. Hastings served as an Elder for many years. Since his baptism in 1962, he was a faithful servant of the Lord always helping, teaching, and encouraging others. Mr. Hastings believed in the Truth of the Bible and that everyone should repent and be baptized to receive salvation through Jesus Christ. His greatest hope was that we would go to Heaven without the loss of one.
