Mr. Jessie Joe Brown age 85 of Livingston, Overton Co., TN passed from this life on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from the Overton Co. Health and Rehab.

Joe was born on March 13,1938 to Charlie and Mertie Brown and was big brother to his sister Janice.  He graduated from Rickman High School in 1957.  In October 1959, he met Nancy Jeanette Reed and they married on May 26, 1960.  They were recently able to celebrate 63 years of marriage.
He became a dad to Teresa in 1962 and Tammy in 1963 and was also blessed to be a grandfather and great grandfather over the next 50 years.

In 1980, what had begun as a desire to provide tomato plants to friends and neighbors grew into Brown's Greenhouse. In addition to selling vegetable and flower plants, they provided landscaping services to people all over the Cumberland Plateau and southern Kentucky.  In 1986, the business expanded to become a full service florist.  For 25 years, countless people came to know Joe through their visits to the property and the numerous events they attended.

In addition to a lifetime of farming and raising cattle, Joe worked at Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation for more than 39 years before retiring in 2000.  He served the people of the Upper Cumberland region and also traveled numerous times with UCEMC emergency crews to restore power to storm ravaged regions, meeting people and making new friends along the way.

In addition to being a husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, Joe was a friend to many.  He never met a stranger and was always willing to sit and talk.  In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish and go camping with Nancy and the girls.  But he was happiest when he was out in the fields or in the garden digging in the dirt, planting and harvesting food that usually ended up in the hands of someone in need.

Joe was a Christian and a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ.  His family and friends can take comfort in the knowledge that he's in Heaven with his Savior fully healed and happy.

Survivors are his wife Nancy Jeanette Brown of Livingston, TN; 2 Daughters: Teresa Gail Brown Kelly and her husband John of Hilton Head Island, SC, Tammy Denise Brown Pass and her husband Greg of Jacksonville, AL; 4 Grandchildren:Catherine Elizabeth Sage and her husband David of Savannah, GA, Michael Joseph Kelly and his wife Meagan of Nashville, TN, Tyler Van Pass and his wife Rachel of Cumming, GA, Lydia Marie Pass of Birmingham, AL; 2 Great Grandchildren: Emma Elizabeth Sage of Savannah, GA and Luke Oliver Sage of Savannah, GA; 1 Sister: Janice Loftis of Livingston, TN.

Pallbearers: John Kelly, Michael Kelly, Tyler Pass, Greg Pass, Randy Loftis, and Colby Loftis.

Services for Mr. Jessie Joe Brown will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from the Walnut Grove Church of Christ at 12 Noon and the family will welcome friends at the Walnut Grove Church of Christ on Wednesday morning, July 19th starting at 10 AM.
