Mr. Melvin Douglas (Doug) Hunter age 62 of Livingston, TN passed away at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on June 2, 2021 after a determined 4 year battle with CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia).

Doug was born in Timothy, Overton Co, TN on June 17, 1958 to Odetta (Holman) Hunter and the late Melvin Hunter. He was a 1976 graduate of Livingston Academy where he played football and basketball. He would then go on to attend Tennessee Tech graduating with a BS in Business Management. Doug kept a lifelong passion for athletics and sports. He was intelligent and inquisitive and interested in an extraordinary array of topics. He worked a variety of jobs from commercial real estate to factory jobs to landscaping and construction. He loved the outdoors, mowing, tending to his garden and writing songs and playing his guitar. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Odetta Hunter; sister Shelia Preacher (Tom); daughters Ashley Hamilton (Andrew) and Skylar Ricketson (Ricky) and 4 grandchildren Elisea, Wolf, and Luna Hamilton and Callie Ricketson.

Doug rests secure in the arms of his Savior, his father Melvin Hunter, his sisters Elizabeth Moore and Mary Janelle Hunter, his niece and nephew Lori and David Moore, and his beloved grandmother Effie Peterman.

The celebration of life service for Melvin Douglas (Doug) Hunter will be held at Livingston United Methodist Church, 104 Roberts Street, on Saturday, June 5, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Lisa Harper Baker officiating. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the church just prior to the service. Masks are requested please. Burial will take place at the McFerrin UMC cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles "Chuck" Harris, Andy Auberson, Ronnie Linder, Tom Preacher, Andrew Hamilton, Ricky Ricketson.
