Services will be held Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Matthews Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 PM to 9 PM. Officiating will be Bro. Gary Pharris and Bro. Mike Gillock.

Mr. Alton Cecil Mercer age 77 of Rickman, TN passed away at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Monday morning, October 21, 2013.

He was born in Clay County, TN on September 5, 1936 to the late Hilary and Neva (Glidwell) Mercer. He was a beekeeper and avid raccoon hunter. He worked at General Motors in the 50's and People's Dairy in the early 60's. He also worked at Thompsons Manufacturing and retired from Dacco in 2002.

He is survived by: Wife: Virginia Mercer; 2 Sons: Eddie Mercer and wife Lisa and Tim Mercer and wife Bonnie; 1 Brother: Harnold Mercer and wife Marjorie; 3 Grandsons: Johnathan Mercer and wife Jamie, Josh Mercer and wife Kristi, and Wes Mercer and wife Brandi; 1 Great Granddaughter: Piper Hall; and 1 Great Grandson: Jax Mercer.

He was preceded in death by: In addition to his parents Hilary and Neva Mercer; 3 Brothers: John Ed Mercer, Arnold Mercer, and Talton Mercer; and 3 Sisters: Helen Sidwell, Beatrice Brown, and Oplyne Franklin.
