Obituary

Reverend Gene B. Martin, age 76, of Cookeville, TN received his heavenly reward on January 9, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 11, 1947 in Four States, WV.

Pastor Gene graduated from Zion Bible Institute, Providence RI, Central Bible College, Springfield MO (BA) and Life Christian University (MA). After graduating Zion Bible Institute he married the love of his life, Jeannie. Together they have pastored churches in Connecticut, West Virginia, South Carolina, Michigan and for 18 years they pastored Liberty Worship Center in Xenia, OH. Currently serving the senior adult ministry at Hope Church in Algood. Pastor Martin served in the Church of God of Prophecy and Church of God for 53 years as an Ordained Bishop. He served denominationally on many boards and committees including the Ministerial Examining Board, Evangelism and Home Missions Board, State Council and District Overseer. He was a mentor and leader to many in the ministry. He had a passion for prayer, renewal, revival and outreach to the whosoever.

Gene B. Martin loved his family deeply and is survived by his wife Regina Martin of 53 years; 3 children Scott Martin (Stephanie), Tammi Hill (Marcus); Todd Martin (Angie); 7 grandchildren Ashley Sanchez (Joe), Brianna Johnson (Tony), Luke Hill (Erin), Wesley Hill (Stacia), Sam Hill, Grace Martin, Kaleb Martin, step grandson Stone Koehler; 1 great grandchild Sofia Sanchez. He also loved his beloved twin brother Jack (Janet) Martin of Fairmont, WV. A host of extended family and friends also survive.

Preceded in death by: Lloyd Burl Martin (Father), Ruth Martin (Mother), PJ Chapman (Father-in law), and Lillian Chapman (Mother-in-law).

Funeral Services will be held January 12, 2023 at Hope Church 205 W. Wall St. Cookeville, TN 38506. The viewing will be from noon - 2pm with the funeral following at 2pm. The graveside service will be held January 14, 2023 11am at Grandview Memorial Gardens (93 Grandview Cemetery Rd. Fairmont, WV 26554). Officiating: Pastor Todd A. Martin (Liberty Worship Center) & Pastor Jason Yarbrough (Hope Church).
