DECEASED: Mr. W.T. (Bill) Melton age 88 of Livingston, Overton Co., TN passed from this life on Saturday, December 19, 2020.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: W.T. (Bill) Melton was born on Friday, October 28, 1932 in the Willow Grove Community of Overton Co. to the late Herman and Mary (Sevier) Melton. He graduated from Clay County High School in 1954. A former resident of Lebanon, TN., Bill retired from TRW Ross Gear and later retired as a farmer in Moss, TN. On Saturday, October 29, 1955 he married Mildred Poston Melton of Livingston, TN., they raised three sons, Gary, Ken, and Jimmy and a daughter Teri Jo. Bill had a life-long passion for high school football and basketball. For years, Bill officiated both sports as a member of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA). For his successes as an official, an assigner, and as an officiating supervisor/ trainer, he was nominated and inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 1998. Bill gained respect for his love of sports and of the student-athlete, his ability to motivate the officials that he trained and assigned, plus his unique ability to equate life's lessons to the officials that were involved. He was truly a leader to all that knew him.

SURVIVORS: Wife: Lola Geraldine Melton, 3 Sons: Gary, Ken, Jimmy Melton; 1 Daughter: Teri Jo Melton; 2 Brothers: Fred and George Melton; 1 Sister: Betty Smith; 4 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive.

PRECEEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents; his first wife Mildred Poston Melton; 3 Sisters: Alene, Kathleen, Frances; 2 Brothers: Bobby, Joe, and infant brother Aaron.

SERVICES/BURIAL: Funeral services for Mr. Bill Melton will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 26 ^th starting at 11 AM until the 2 PM service time. Bro. Kenny Westmoreland and Bro. Steve Jackson will be officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your nearest or favorite high school's athletic or general fund, in the name of Bill Melton.
