Jonathan Ryan Young age 42 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday, December 03, 2024.  Jonathan was born to Robert and Vivian Young on Friday, February 26, 1982 in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his step-daughter: Michaila Mahaffey, his grandparents, and his aunt: Loretta Sherrill.

Jonathan is survived by his wife of three years: Opal Young, his son: Jayden Young of Rickman, Tennessee; his step-children: Eleanor Wells of Crossville, Tennessee, Connor Mahaffey of Sevierville, Tennessee; his two grandchildren; and his parents: Robert and Vivian Young of Rickman, Tennessee.

Jonathan was a devoted and loving husband.  He also loved playing basketball, which he was a very good basketball player.  He loved football and was a fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers.  He enjoyed eating home-cooked food, especially scalloped potatoes.  He loved animals.  He had several pets including a pet turkey he named "Dorothy, " a cat named "Jellybean," and a German Shepherd named "Cheddar Bob."  Jonathan was a humble, gentle man who dearly loved the Lord Jesus.  He was a #1 Momma's boy.

The family has chosen to honor Jonathan's final wishes and have selected cremation.
