Joseph “Joey” Upton Williams, age 60, of Rickman, TN passed away Wednesday, April 29 at his home.

Joey was born August 20, 1965 in Swainsboro, GA. He was a teacher and coach for Overton County Schools. Joey started coaching baseball in 1982 and through the years he also coached softball, boys and girls basketball. Joey and his “Brats” won runner-up in the SEAA Softball World Series. His Hilham teams won three consecutive state championships and his LMS team won one. In addition to sports, Joey loved riding horses with friends and family, logging over one thousand miles several years.

Joey is survived by his wife of 33 years, Melody Anderson Williams. His children: Erica (LJ) Haas, Jordan (Nicole) Bailey, Korry (Tyler) Cole and Kayla (Chase) Hodges. His grandchildren: Wyatt and Harper Haas; Zach (Marley), Alyssa, and Regan Flatt; Liam and Kollins Cole; Baker Hodges. His siblings: Tonya (Bryan Boles) Ruanto, Matt (Phyllis) Kilgore, and Trista (Steve) Thompson.

Joey was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Judy Jenkins, and his grandparents George & Lucille Holton and Lucy Jenkins.

Pall bearers will be Curtis Beaty, Mike Keith, Matt Kilgore, Seth Kilgore, Lance Ruanto, Skyler Ruanto, Brandon Savage, and Billy Tucker.

Honorary pall bearers will be all Joey’s former ball players

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home on Sunday, May 03, 2026 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m and Monday May 04, 206 from 12 until time of service at2PM.

Funeral Services will be held at Hall Funeral Home on Monday, May 04, 2026 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Dodson Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations  may be made to Dodson Chapel Cemetery C/O Union Bank & Trust at 201 East Main Street Livingston, TN 38570 if preferred.
