Mr James Chatt (Jake) Smith was born on march 18, 1927 in Pickett County to the late Will Edd and Della Vera Reynolds Smith. He was a farmer and a veteran of the US Navy. He operated Smitty's Grocery in Monroe for many years. He is survived by a daughter, Jamie Lee Smith of Monroe; a sister, Willie Dea Riley of Cookeville, Grandchildren; Mark, Brian, Brett, Jeremiah and John David Smith and a Great Grandchild, Nathaniel. He is also survied by several neices, nephews (Special nephew Jerry Flowers), cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Shoemake Smith; Sons, David and Michael Smith, Brothers: Ray and Robert Smith and Sisters: Allene Sells and Anna Lee Flowers
