Obituary

Haskell "Hack" Thurman Colson

November 28, 1953 – November 2, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Haskell "Hack" Thurman Colson announces his passing on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the age of 72.

Born on November 28, 1953, Hack graduated from high school in Celina, Tennessee, in 1972. That same year, he married the love of his life, Regina, beginning a marriage that would span 54 years.

Hack proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a skilled carpenter and contractor who dedicated much of his life to the building trades. He also worked as a building trades teacher, sharing his knowledge, skills, and experience with others.

Music was always a big part of Hack's life. Over the years, he played in several bands, playing guitar, bass, and singing lead. He even wrote a hit song back in the 70s and continued writing songs throughout his life. He loved playing music and singing with family and friends, whether at a gathering or just sitting around having a good time.

Hack was always on the go and never one to sit still for very long. He loved the Tennessee mountains, watching the rivers run, and spending time working on the farm. Some of his favorite times were Saturday evening cookouts with family and friends, sitting around the fire, playing music, laughing, and enjoying each other's company.

Above all, Hack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Regina Colson; his son, Jamison Colson, and wife, Sharon; and his daughters, Tara Shepherd and husband, Billy, and April Cunningham and husband, Jim.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Madi Harris and husband, Steven Harris; Abby Hintz and husband, Daelin Hintz; Jacob Norrod, and Bailey Roye; Logan Cunningham, Haskell Cunningham, Reilly Colson, Spencer Paugh, Alia Colson, Opal Shepherd, and his great-grandsons, Bennett and Caiden Harris.

Hack also leaves behind those he considered family: his honorary daughter, Alicia Foster, and her husband, Ken Foster, along with honorary grandsons, Cade and Cole Foster; and his honorary son and daughter, Larry and Christie Jones, and their children, Nick and Gavin.

He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Johnson, Claudine Vaughn, and Tina Langford and husband, Jackie Langford.

Hack was preceded in death by his parents, Haltie and Annie Colson of Willow Grove, Tennessee; and his brothers, George Colson, Edward Colson, James Colson, Doyl Colson, and Raymond Colson.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Hall Funeral Home in Livingston, Tennessee, to honor and remember Hack.
