Funeral Of Local Interest- Mark Daniel Lilley's Obituary
Mark Daniel Lilley, age 49 of Sanford went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
Mark was born on August 22, 1963 in Longview, TX to Dr. Jimmy D. Lilley and Bonnie Miller Lilley. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sanford. Many people have benefited from and became close to Mark because of his vast knowledge and talent in the media industry. He spent his life in media through sound and television for over 30 years having been a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a degree in Business Management in Marketing. Mark was a contributor to Lee County and Southern Lee High Schools. He was a member of the Board at Central Carolina Community College for Media for sports coverage and scholarship programs. Mark ran for Lee County Commissioner , was a member of Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lions Club, a Board Member at WDSG 107.9 FM radio in Sanford, and the manager of San-Lee Community Broadcasting, WBFT-TV 46 in Sanford.
Mark is survived by his loving wife Kimberly Ledford Lilley of Sanford, NC; three daughters: Corinthia Dian Lilley; Allysha Marie Lilley, and Sidney Abigail Lilley all of Sanford, NC; a son, Miles Edward Lilley of Sanford, NC; his parents, Dr. Jimmy D. Lilley and Bonnie Miller Lilley of Lookout Mountain, GA; two brothers: Jonathan Lilley of Lookout Mountain, GA and Caleb Lilley and wife Marie of Goldsboro, NC; and a sister Sarah Henderson of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bruce and Janice Ledford of Livingston, TN.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 3915 Hawkins Ave., with Rev. Brian Parker and Rev. Ron Rucker officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that memorial contributions be made to: WBFT-TV, PO Box 4646, Sanford, NC 27331-4646, which will contribute to a living legacy in memory of Mark Lilley to local community broadcasting in Sanford.
