Deceased: Mrs. Edith Murphy age 80 of Rickman, TN passed away at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Sunday July 28, 2024.

Personal Information: Mrs. Edith Murphy was born in Livingston, Overton Co. TN on December 15, 1943 to the late Elliot "Tick" and Myrtle McDonald. Mrs. Edith and her late husband, R.L., were foster parents for 17 years and welcomed many special children to live with them. She had a passion for nurturing her plants especially elephant ears. She loved all of her animals; goats, chickens, and her little dog, Milo.

Survivors:  Edith leaves behind her daughters: Teresa Murphy, Barbara Wheeler, sons: Butch R.L. Murphy, Jr., J.J. Murphy, Jacob Ferman, and Cleo Holt, 17 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild, sisters: Lily M. Pennington, Diana Worley, Betty Abbott, Joyce Bilbrey, Patricia Tommy Gore, and JoAnn Greenwood, brother: Danny Kathy McDonald.
A host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive.

Preceded in Death: In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Murphy; Son: Timmy and wife Gail Murphy, Brothers: Garry McDonald, Cecil McDonald, Brother in laws: Wayne Bilbrey, J.T. Abbott, Charlie Greenwood, Lonnie Worley and Sister in law: Trudy McDonald,Jerry McDonald.

Pall bearers to serve are Bryant McDonald, Troy Pennington, Josh Murphy, Timothy Scott Murphy, Jr., Jacob Murphy, and J.J. Murphy.

Funeral Services will be held for Mrs. Mavie 'Edith' Murphy on Saturday August 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston, TN with burial to follow in the Eckles Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday August 3, 2024 starting at 10 am until the time of service. Officiating will be Grant Pennington.                                                                      P
