Christopher Truman
Clay
Jan 7, 1975 — Mar 12, 2025
Christopher T. Clay, 50 of Columbia Missouri, passed away peacefully the afternoon of March 12th, 2025 at the HS Truman VA Medical Center in Columbia, MO, where he dedicated years of service to his fellow veterans. Chris lived a life overflowing with love, laughter, and a childlike spirit that never grew old.
A proud US Marine Corps and US Army veteran, Chris carried the values of honor and resilience into his work at the VA hospital, where he touched countless lives with his compassion, commitment, and dedication. With his knack for finding humor and mischief in every moment, Chris never met an enemy—only friends waiting to be made. His heart was boundless; he would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought, a testament to his huge propensity for love. A kid at heart, his approach to life was with a playful joy that endeared him to all.
When at home, Chris found relaxation in the kitchen—cooking wasn't just a task, it was his way of showing love and bringing people together. But above all, he adored his four children; Dylan T. Clay, Trever D. McCollom, Devan E. Clay, and Leah J. Clay, who were his greatest joys; his everything.
in addition to his four children, Christopher is survived by his father, Joseph T. Clay of Woodbridge, Virginia; mother, June E. Hunt of Auburndale, Florida; brother, Joseph D. Clay (Aimee K.) of Lakeland, Florida; niece, Hannah K. Wood (Tyler W.) of Lakeland, Florida; nephews Carter S. Clay (Kate M.) of Lakeland, Florida; and Keaton J. Clay of Lakeland, Florida.
Christopher was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack E. Hunt of Iberia, Missouri; paternal grandfather, Truman C. Clay (Jessie) of Celina, Ohio; paternal grandmother; Barbara F. Savage (Richard) of Newbury, Ohio; and maternal grandparents, Daniel G. and Myrtle E. (nee Reed) Webb of Livingston, Tennessee
Chris leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and a unique ability to make life just a little brighter for everyone he encountered. His absence is deeply felt by the many that knew and loved him, and his memory will always bring warmth, laughter, and a reminder to live with an open heart and giant smile.
