DECEASED:

Mr. Willie George Mclerran age 100 of Celina, Clay Co., TN departed this life at his home on Monday, December 28, 2020.

PERSONAL INFORMATION:

Mr. Willie George Mclerran was born on Thursday, January 1, 1920 in a 2 room log cabin, he was the second child of the late Harlan and Nina (Walker) Mclerran and the husband of Emma Dee (Strong) Mclerran. Their wedding ceremony took place on the side of the road November 30, 1941 on a Sunday morning before worship service near Midway, Moss, TN. From childhood serving God was paramount in his life, he was baptized at the age of 19 and he became a working servant at the New Hope Church of Christ. He served as an elder for more than 40 years. His main goal in life was telling the Good news of god's love to others. His work ethic lead him to jobs as carpenter, logger, farmer and basket maker. His baskets have been sold to people in every state in the United States. His 100 th birthday was celebrated with more than 300 people in attendance.

SURVIVORS:

1 Son: James Mclerran and his wife Janice; 2 Daughters: Ruth Riddle and her husband Nile, Nina Smith and her husband Dennis; 1 Son in-law: Odell Underwood. 1 Sister: Lola Morris; 8 Grandchildren: Jeffrey Mclerran and his wife Shelia, Duane Smith and his wife Jeannie, Pat Smith and his wife Liz, Monica Smith, Angela Mclerran, Denisa Mclerran, Shonda McDowell, Nena Foster; 11 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Todd Mclerran, Cade Milby, Gavin Milby, Tyler Smith, Mason Smith, Dawson McDowell.

PROCEEDED IN DEATH:

In addition to his parents;Wife: Emma Dee (Strong) Mclerran; 1 Daughter: Gayle Underwood; 2 Sisters: Florence Watson, Mae Smith; 2 brothers: Cordell Mclerran, Claude Mclerran.

SERVICES:

Funeral services for Mr. Willie George Mclerran will be held on Friday, January 1, 2020 at 1 PM from the New Hope Church of Christ; family will welcome friends at the New Hope Church of Christ on Thursday, Dec. 31 st starting at 1 PM to 8 PM then on Friday morning starting at 9 AM till service time. Officiating the services will be Bro. Jason Dodson. Family request that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Church of Christ Relief Fund or the Macedonia Cemetery. The service will be live streamed on the New Hope Church of Christ facebook page.
