Ms. Edith Mae Cherry, 98, of the Oak Grove Community of Clay County, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Celina Health & Rehabilitation Center in Celina, TN.
Edith Mae Moss was born on Friday, September 20, 1918 in the Pine Hill Community to the late Anthony Calvin & Lucy (Marshall) Moss. A loving mother and grandmother, she always placed others needs above her own. She was a wonderful cook and gardener. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: Lex Cherry, a son: Calvin Cherry, and daughter: Janice Cherry.
Edith is survived by daughter: Joy (Stephen) Powers of Abilene, TX, son: Kelly Duke (Jane) Cherry of Dalton, GA, grandchildren: Calvin Cherry and Allyson Long, and 4 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Ms. Edith Cherry will be conducted at 11 am on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina with Bro. Tommy Russell officiating. Special singing provided by the Smith Family Singers of Union Hill. The interment will follow in the Pitcock Cemetery. The Cherry family requests that visitation begin on Monday from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Tuesday from 10 am until the service time at 11 am.
Donald Moss, David Moss, Gene Turner, Jackie Moore, Calvin Cherry, and Stephen Powers served as pallbearers.
The Cherry family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made toward the Pitcock Cemetery Fund - Care of the Macon Bank & Trust in Celina, TN.
