Mr. Donald I. Dyer, age 84, of Celina, TN, formerly of Albany, KY, passed away at Celina Health & Rehabilitation Center on Saturday Morning, June 04, 2016.
Donald Issac Dyer was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 03, 1931 to the late Ira Boyles & Edna (Stockton) Dyer. Don graduated from Ocala High School in Ocala, Florida and went on to graduate from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1951 as a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Kentucky and Florida. Don was a manager of a funeral home in Florida for 10 years and he owned and operated Dyer Funeral Home in Albany, KY for 20 years, at which time he built the first nursing home in Albany in 1970, the first skating ring in Albany, and established Albany Memorial Gardens. He was also a licensed airplane pilot. Don was currently a member of Celina, TN Canton Lodge #481 F&AM, and formerly a member at Leesburg, FL Lodge #58 AF&AM and Albany, KY Lodge #206 F&AM. He was also affiliated with the Church of Christ. Don was preceded in death by wife: Peggy (Simpson) Dyer.
Don is survived by sons: Ira B. Dyer, II of Elizabethtown, KY and Donald I. "Ike"Dyer, II of Celina, TN, daughters: Deborah Sue "Debbie" Beaty of Wartburg, TN and Donna Jean Bullock of St. Petersburg, FL, sisters: Louise Craft of Oak Ridge, TN, Roberta Smith of Deland, FL, and Remona Scott of Albany, KY. 9 Grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the Dyer family will start at 5 PM on Monday, June 06, 2016 at the Hall Funeral Home of Celina with a Masonic Service performed by Canton Lodge #481 F&AM at 6:30 PM with funeral services immediately following. Mr. Dyer has chose cremation after the service.
The Dyer family requests that memorial contributions be made toward the Tucker-Murray Memorial Fund by contacting the office of Hall Funeral Home of Celina.
