Jun 12, 1935 — Jun 23, 2019
Idabel Tech Treece
Idabel (Bel) Tech Treece passed away Sunday, June 23 at Celina Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services were held Thursday, June 27 at Hall Funeral Chapel in Celina, TN. Internment followed at Celina Cemetery.
Bel was born June 12, 1935 in Whiteface, TX to Albert and Ida Marteney. She was the youngest of four sisters, Leota Roark (deceased), Augusta Blackmon (deceased) and Alberta Conway of Oklahoma City, OK. The family moved to Vancouver Washington during World War II, and she often spoke of the snow covered mountains. After the war they moved back to Southwest Oklahoma. She graduated high school in Snyder, OK. She married Glenn Bryan in 1954 and they had two sons, Duane and Steven. Steven preceded her in death in 1995. Bel was a bookkeeper most of her adult life. In the mid 1960's she started working for the Knox CPA firm in Altus, OK. While there she became one of the first computer operators in Altus. Altus Junior College hired her to teach computer/key punch which she did in the evenings while continuing her duties at the CPA firm. Within a few years her computer skills and knowledge, rare in the mid 60's, brought her to the attention of The Altus Board of Education and Superintendent Clifford Peterson. She went to work for Altus Public Schools as a bookkeeper and clerk of the Board of Education, a position she held for the next 30 plus years until her retirement. She and then husband Gordon (Gordy) Treece moved to Swan Ridge in Clay County, TN in 1996, where they both felt at home on day one. Gordy preceded her in death in December, 2007. Bel and Gordy were instrumental in founding and building the East 52 Volunteer Fire Department and were active in events with the fire department and surrounding area.
In addition to her two sons, Bel has eight grandchildren, Mollie Littlecook of Ponca City, OK, Maxwell Bryan of Dayton, Ohio, William Bryan of Nashville, TN, Jackson Bryan, Spencer Bryan both of Celina, TN and Michael Dorsey of Altus, OK. Grandsons Hunter and Harrison Bryan preceded her in death. She has four step children, Joyce Treece, Patty Treece, Rex Treece and Tony Treece.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to East 52 Volunteer Fire Department.
